OTTAWA TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC DEPARTMENT

The Ottawa Township High School choral program is made up of three curricular ensembles: Concert Choir (entry level), Treble Choir (intermediate treble), and Crimson Choir (advanced mixed). Extracurricular choral activities include Overboard (contemporary pop a cappella ensemble) and involvement in the Fall Musical. The curricular choirs perform in quarterly concerts in October, December, March, and May, as well as participate in varying other opportunities such as the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA)'s District and All-State festivals, IHSA Solo & Ensemble and Organizational Contest, OEHS Music Festival, I-8 Conference, and singing the National Anthem at Home sports events. This program has won numerous honors at the state level, and has sent many students to represent OTHS at ILMEA District and All-State. The OTHS choir program is not only for teaching students to sing songs at performances, but giving them a broader, more comprehensive choral music education that will inform whatever musical endeavors they may pursue after high school, and will give them another avenue to connect with the world around them.
