Q: Who can audition?

A: ILMEA offers the opportunities listed below for any student currently enrolled in a high school music program.

Q: What do I have to do for the audition?

A: Each musical discipline has different requirements for their audition/application process, listed under each link. Most will require you to perform sections from a number of prepared pieces and demonstrate skills specific to your instrument.

Q: What happens if I am selected?

A: If selected for Band, Chorus, Orchestra, Vocal Jazz, or Instrumental Jazz, you would attend the District 2 Festival in November. Depending on your discipline's requirements for All-State, you may be asked to re-audition, or your previous score could be applied to qualify you for All-State, which takes place over the course of a weekend in January. If selected for the Composition Contest, Remix Contest, or Future Music Educators Seminar, you would attend All-State in January.
