OTTAWA TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC DEPARTMENT

OTHS Overboard

What: If you love the music that the curricular choirs sing at Pop Concert, then this extracurricular group is for you! OTHS Overboard is the high school’s contemporary pop/a cappella ensemble made up of 14-18 mixed voices. This group is smaller, so members should prepare to be dedicated to working together, practicing regularly, and becoming part-independent on their music. Although its “main event” will be a cappella music, this group will also feature chamber music and vocal jazz.

When: Overboard will rehearse in the choir room on most Mondays and Thursdays throughout the school year from 6:15-7:30pm.

Where: Overboard will have performances at various music department events throughout the year, including choir concerts, the Educational Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Solo & Ensemble Contest, Fine Arts Festival, and Jazz Night. They will also perform in the community: at the library, nursing homes, local elementary and junior high schools, and at occasional community events.

Who: Any student enrolled in choir is able to audition.

How: Auditions will take place at the beginning of the fall semester.
